Founded in Los Angeles in the 1930s, the Marbro Lamp Company quickly became a favorite among Hollywood’s designers, decorators, and set stylists thanks to its dramatic scale, global sourcing, and unmatched attention to detail. (These lamps are huge—proof of that!)

Marbro didn’t manufacture lamps in the traditional sense—they curated them. Components were sourced from France, Germany, Italy (often importing hand-blown crystal from Murano, Italy--an island famed for centuries-old glassmaking techniques), and beyond, with crystal often cut in Bavaria and brass cast in Europe before arriving at their California workshop. There, each lamp was hand-assembled and fitted with custom details like double socket fixtures, crystal finials, and their signature tinted brass finish—a closely guarded formula that gave their pieces a rich, golden patina.

These weren’t accessories. They were statement pieces, made for grand foyers, Regency-style living rooms, and the backdrops of silver screen sets. Today, they remain coveted by collectors and designers for the same reasons: they tell a story of old-world craftsmanship meeting West Coast glamour.
